We will be holding the 1st Annual "Swamp-Fest" Helicopter Fly-In at the East Coast Swamp Flyers on Sunday, June 27th. This one-day event will consist of helicopter pilots of all levels displaying their skills. There will be 3 flight stations, each approximately 200' wide, plus a hover/setup station (field layout diagram to be posted soon).

The landing fee for the event is $15 per pilot, $5 of which goes back into a pilot 50/50 raffle. The field gates open at 7:30am for set up, and flying starts after a 9:15 pilots meeting. Food concessions are avaiable for breakfast & lunch.

Come join us for a day of exciting heli flying! All pilots must have an A.M.A. membership.

June 16th - ECSF Club Meeting:

The ECSF meeting will be held on June 16th.

June 6th - ECSF Memorial Picnic and Fun-Fly:

We will be having our annual Memorial Picnic and Fun-Fly on Sunday June 6th at our flying field. The picnic will consist of tons of flying, noon time events (to include, balloon popping, limbo / inverted limbo, and 1 round of combat), and free food and drinks.

The pilot stations have also been put in with poured concrete and look great (see photo below). The stations have been placed at 60' from the logs where the black markers were placed approximately 2 months ago. This location was the compromise that the club members agreed upon during the club meeting. The club members came to an agreement about the station location instead of pushing the aircraft flying further out. This ensures that all pilots and spectators standing in the pit area have a greater buffer from flying aircraft.

We will also be placing the 4' high orange fence just behind the stations to prevent the pilots from getting struck by taxing aircraft. Last year when we took down the orange fence we agreed to have it put back up just behind the pilot stations.

Now that the stations have had time to set and dry, all pilots must use the new pilot stations and only the pilot stations when flying their aircraft.

We look forward to seeing you at the Memorial Picnic next week on Sunday June 6th.

May 19th - Build Contest, Swap Meet, and Club Meeting:

Dear Members,

We would like to invite you all to this year's Annual Builders Contest and Swap Meet which is being held on Wednesday May 19th at 7:00pm, at the Foxon Recreational Community Center. This year we will again be allowing members to enter any model they have as long as it has not been entered in past builders contests. It doesn't matter if the model is 1 year old or 40 years old. Trainers, Sport, Pattern, 3D, Warbirds, Helicopters, and more, all are welcome. Bring them out and show them off. We just want to make this all about participation and having a good time. The contest will have 5 classes: Sport, Scale, Aerobatic, Helicopter, and Kit Build.

Each class will have prizes for first and second place and a grand prize for best in show. The prizes are dontated by "RC Hobbies and More" in Winsted CT. For judging, we will again use the members. The club members will be the judges. Each member will receive a judging form and make their choices for 1st & 2nd for each category, and a best in show.

Also during the Builders Contest we will be holding our Annual Swap Meet. Bring in any and all items you wish to sell or trade: Planes, Helicopters, Engines, Motors, Electronics, and accessories. Every transaction will be done directly between members without any club involvement. This will be a great way to clear out your shop and maybe find something new you didn't have.

If you don't want to bring a plane, no problem, come out and check out what other members are flying. This is a perfect time to meet and get to know your fellow members and even make some new flying buddies. This is also a great time to meet the Officers and Board Members of the club. Also during the Builders Contest, the club will be holding its monthly meeting. We will be discussing all the many improvements we have made to the field and our exciting lineup of picnics and events we have planned for this season.

So come on out Wednesday May 19th at 7:00pm to enjoy an evening of great looking aircraft, selling & trading RC stuff, and talking shop. And you never know, you may also get some great ideas and parts for your next model. Or even better yet, you may walk out with your next model.

June 14th - Battle of Midway II, Extreme RC Combat Event:

RC Pilots will team up (5 pilots each team) and duel each other in the skies above the swamp attempting to cut their opponents streamers. Pilots will also attempt to cut their opponents balloons that are suspended 15 feet in the air and positioned at each end of the field. The balloons represent each team's fleet of ships. But with each fleet comes a barrage of Anti-Aircraft Guns. So each team will also have their own team of 10 paintball gunners protecting their fleet.

The Event will consist of 8 rounds of combat, with each round lasting 10 minutes. We are expanding the event this year and allowing members from any club to join in on the fun. Our goal is to have 20 or more pilots so each pilot will fly four rounds. And 40 or more paintball gunners so they as well will participate in four rounds each.
