Greetings- I hope this Newsletter finds you all well and getting ready for the spring which is fast approaching. At the February Club Meeting the Executive Board presented a plan for our new club house. They suggested that a 40 foot by 10 foot steel container be used as the core of the club house. The advantages of this design that were presented were: it would make the club house transportable, provided security against vandalism, has two large doors at one end, could be easily modified to suit our needs and can be made ready to suit our basic needs in the near future. The final design is presently a work in progress and the Executive Board would accept recommendations from the membership. In their research on the container they found a company in Orange, Eagle Leasing, that could supply us with a refurbished container, delivered and mounted on supports, for under $3000. After their presentation a motion was made and pass, by the attending members, that the Board go ahead with the purchase and arrange for the container to be delivered. Several members volunteered to move our current trailer to another part of the parking lot. During discussion by the members it was recommended that our current trailer’s door be replaced and to continue to use this trailer for storage. Several of our members have volunteered their skills and materials in the modifications that will be needed on the two containers.
On to other news. The final design for our club hats has been made and a company to produce them contacted. The hats must be order in quantities of 48 or 96 with the larger number giving us a better price. I ask that any member who is interested in purchasing a club hat contact me via email or a postcard so we can get an idea as to how many we should order. terryjmc@comcast.com OR- East Coast Swamp Flyers Terry McElrath 230 Kings Hwy North Haven, CT 06473 At the February meeting Mark Castiglione gave an excellent demonstration on the use of an airbrush to enhance the appearance of a plane. He showed how to use different masking material to create designs, add panel lines, rivets and weathering on military ARFs. He also brought his own ME109 to show what could be done with a couple of hours work. The next meeting will be March 21st. At this meeting there will be a tutorial on the programming of computer radios. Jim Cyr, Steve Swahn and Terry McElrath will bring their transmitters and airplanes to show the different techniques with Futaba, JR and HiTec systems. We hope to show how to get the most out these very versatile systems in different airplane configurations. Just a reminder, a new raffle is being held for a Spek TRUM DX 7 radio system, 7 channel, 20 mode memory with servos. Tickets are $2 each, 3 for $5 and 7 for $10.
