The end of another great summer flying season has come to a close, but we can still look forward to an even better fall. The field has never looked better. The cleared area has filled in nicely, it doesn’t even look like anything is out of place.

October is going to be a busy month for ECSF. November is election month, so nominations need to be posted via newsletter or website before, or at, our next meeting (October). The Neighbor’s picnic is also fast approaching, on October 8th. This year brings us the 1st ever V’October Fest on the evening of the 7th, with of course a club traditional bon fire. It should be a great time, I hope to see everyone there.

Message from the prez…
Another great year is coming to an end. The positive strides forward in our organization continue to be tremendous. We are following our four point plan of financial stability, Emergency Fund, Flight line safety including our teaching program. The year after year growth of our club and new pilots make us a club that is second to none. And our field brings us new opportunities to host our very own AMA sanctioned event. I’d like to say thank you not only to the officers and board members but also to the membership. I’m very proud of you. Thanks for your continued support and effort. Happy Landings!

Mark Castiglione, ECSF President

Minutes…
The September meeting was held at Foxon Community Center. It was good to see some new faces to the crew as well.

The E.C.S.F Hats will be ordered soon. We are hoping to have then before the Neighbor’s Picnic, but no commitment from the embroiders had been given yet. The hats will consist of a black bill and trim with a tan cap. The logo will be embroidered on the front with possibly the web address on the back. The initial order will be comprised of 96 hats and retail to members for $14.99. With the limited quantity, please pick yours up right away! As always, the mention of club jackets was made. No official decision yet, but certainly these will be ordered on an individual basis and most likely retail to members for $99.99.

A reminder for the Neighbor’s Picnic was made for October 8th, with V’October Fest Bon Fire for October 7th. This is a weather permitting event and the rain date will be the following weekend.

A reminder that no one has claimed the Hangar-9 P-N-P Cub. If this prize is not claimed soon, the

cub will go back into the raffle to be chosen at the Christmas Party. A change will be made so that names will be required on the back of the ticket. This way, the winner can be contacted.

The Foxon Community Center has contacted E.C.S.F. to put on a flying demo at the fields in East Haven for opening day ceremonies 2007 for the center. AMA will be contact for insurance obligations. As always, volunteers will be welcomed.

Craig Miller has offered his service to climb trees to rescue plane. This was a gracious offer and may help us save a tree or two as well. Thanks Craig!

Terry McElrath proposed an aerobatics and pattern flying event. This could include a possible opportunity for new pilots to get trained on some advanced maneuvers. More to come.

E.C.S.F is now accepting proposed plans for a non-permanent club house. These plans should include dimensions, materials list and estimated cost. The shelter will be used for storage, impound and possible shelter for winter flying.

From the Flight Line…
The 2006 training season is quickly coming to a close. The official end date is November 30th, but training will be limited to Saturday or Sunday from October 31st until close.

The program has had tremendous success since its inception a year ago. Upon completion of this year, 26 pilots will have completed the required training. Congratulations to all who have participated.

October 14th will hold the last AMA Training Sign-off for 2006. The hopeful pilots include: Dave, Brian, Craig, Bob and Danny. Good luck gentlemen! Your hard work will now be rewarded.

Once training has completed, it will be time to get back to work in the field. Work will continue on the buffer and clear the sides of the

road. Our new gate will soon be installed.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the Neighbor’s Picnic. Keep in mind a safe flight line.

Chris Petriccione, ECSF Head Flight Instructor / Safety Officer
